Energy Drinks Are Bad For You And Worse For Your Kids

Most people have the mentality that if somebody sells something legally then it can’t be bad for your health. This is definitely not the case. Energy drinks are pumped full of scary amounts of caffeine. One of the scary things is many children have at least one a day. When your body has too much caffeine there are definitely side effects. Some of these side effects are:

  • Nervousness
  • Insomnia
  • Heart palpitations
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Chest pain
  • Neurological symptoms

This is actually a very scary list when looking at it. All of these can be brought on by something that is purely legal, caffeine. It is strongly recommended that children do not have too much caffeine; it is not good for them. In addition it is shown that high levels of sugar in one’s body will raise your insulin levels. This is not something you want happening to your body as it will lead to many other more common diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

Many people refer to the energy drinks, as caffeine in a can. The majority of these energy drinks are just loaded with sugar. Obviously as soon as you ingest you get your immediate rush of sugar and you feel that instant high. It will last for about an hour and you will feel the world is yours. Then the crash and that’s when you come down. Sadly, it’s like many different drugs, you need to get that high back. This is where most will have another drink to kick that rush back up again, only to know the crash will happen again. So now you are giving your body that immense amount of sugar to try to handle you are also giving it quite the ride from high to low. This is not healthy for your body and after time takes quite a toll, especially on a child’s less developed and functioning body. With this behavior performed on a regular basis it is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Kids and caffeine should not mix, ever. Sadly there are so many different products out there that children consume that carry caffeine. We can only hope, people overall, will be aware of the effects of caffeine and start to carefully monitor their intake and that of those around them.

So I guess when answering the question, Are energy drinks bad for you and are they worst for the kids the answer would be, YES. It would make sense that anything that artificially fills you with something at a rapid pace is something that needs to be monitored. There are times, when watched; having an energy drink to replace chemicals and such lost during exertion is different. Possibly moderation is the key here. There have been many tests and many reviews, and as with most things it depends who you talk to. Yet I do think there is enough evidence to suggest keeping a close eye on children especially taking energy drinks.
